Cypress Falls Boys Varsity wins first game of the season

On Friday, the Cypress Falls Boys Varsity Team came from behind against Cy Ranch to claim its first win in their first game of the season. After falling behind 1-0 in the second half, Falls drew level with a highly contested penalty which was converted by Braulio De La Cruz. Falls won the game when a long range shot was well saved by the Ranch keeper, but Maxi Geronzini got onto the rebound and scored from a tight angle.

Cypress Falls Season begins Friday - maybe

The first games of the new season for both the JV and Varsity teams are this Friday, February 4th. However, with the threat of cold weather and potentially dangerous conditions on Friday we are waiting on CFISD to decide if the games go ahead. In case they do, the games are -

Important Schedule Change Information:

The Boys Tournament for this weekend has changed: We will no longer be playing at College Park but will instead be playing at Brenham at 6:00 pm on Friday, 9:00 am and 3:00 pm on Saturday.

Cypress Falls wins the 2011 HISD Invitational

The Cypress Falls Varsity Boys soccer team won the 2011 HISD Invitational Soccer Tournament in a dramatic come from behind win against Sharpstown at the Barnett Stadium on Saturday night.

Coming from 2-0 down at half time and 3-2 down late in the second half. The Cypress Falls team rallied twice to get their noses in front 4-3 just before the final whistle to be crowned as Tournament winners.

2010 HISD Invitational Tournament

The game times have changed for the tournament this weekend. Here is the new game schedule -

Thursday 1/20 @ 5pm Cypress Falls v Sam Houston

Friday 1/21 @ 3.30pm Cypress Falls v Furr

Saturday 1/22 @ 9am Cypress Falls v Lee

There is the possibility of an advancement game on Saturday - 1,3,5 or 7 pm.

All games are at Delmar Stadium.

Chronicle Article - Boys soccer: HISD tourney to showcase best

Some of the area's premier soccer talent will be on display this week at the Houston Invitational Varsity Boys Soccer Tournament.

For the second straight year, the Houston Independent School District will host the 16-team event. However, Bellaire head coach Ray Kanzig, one of the tournament's organizers, hopes the weather cooperates.

Rainy conditions rendered most of the fields unplayable, forcing Houston ISD to condense last year's showcase into one day and shorten the individual games.

"It wasn't a great start, but at least we got the tournament in," Kanzig said.

Rain or shine, this year's edition will be contested, thanks to the installation of turf on the showcase fields. The tourney runs Thursday-Saturday, Jan. 20-22, at four sites — Barnett, Butler, Delmar and Dyer stadiums.

Twelve of the 16 teams reached the postseason a year ago, which should make for interesting competition.

"With so many quality teams, it's difficult to pick a winner," Kanzig said. "Every single day, there will be at least two or three playoff-caliber games."

Teams will be divided into four-team pools, with the top two teams in each pool advancing to the first- and third-place games to be played on Saturday, Jan. 22.

The 2010 CFISD Invitational Tournament for the Varsity team takes place Thursday January 13th through Saturday January 15th at the Cypress Falls field and the Berry Center.

The boys have games at:

Thursday at 7pm v Conroe at Cypress Falls
Friday at 2:30pm v Seven Lakes at Cypress Falls

Friday at 8 pm v Nimitz at Cypress Falls
